Head Coach - Varsity
Whitney was born and raised in the small town of Washburn WI. Whitney grew up in the gym around the sport of volleyball as both of her parents have been coaching for 21 years. She went on to play volleyball at the University of Minnesota Duluth for two years and then transferred to Concordia University-Saint Paul. The Golden bears won back to back National Championships her junior and senior seasons. Whitney's coaching experience includes one year as a graduate assistant at Concordia University, two seasons as the Wayzata Varsity Assistant, and most recently the Head Coach for The Blake School in 2014. Whitney also has years of coaching experience at the middle school and junior Olympic levels.
Head Coach - JV
Steph, a Minneapolis area native, discovered a passion for volleyball at around 13 years old. Steph is a M1 (Minnesota One) volleyball alum. She played club volleyball through her freshman year of college, playing a variety of positions made her a utility player but more commonly plays DS/L in recent years. After a few years away from the sport, Steph stepped in as a volunteer coach for the SLP 2015 season, and returned as the B team coach for the 2016 season. Steph coaches year round as a club team coach for M1. She coached the 14-2's and the 16-Black teams this past year. She has also coached for Wayva, a small program based in the Wayzata school district. Steph is a lesson coach as well as a class instructor at M1. Outside of volleyball, Steph resides in Minneapolis, is an avid reader and cyclist. When she is not in the volleyball gym, she's trying to find a reason to be there!
Head Coach - B
Steven Olan grew up in the small town of Oakley CA (no not where the glasses are made). He grew up playing a variety of sports, which volleyball was one of his favorites. He was part of the first school sponsored volleyball teams both in junior and senior high school. Steven came to Minnesota to attend Crown College, where he lettered in football while majoring in Business Administration. He was able to keep his volleyball game sharp during his time on campus by scrimmaging the women’s team. Steven got into coaching volleyball at Club Tonka and brings a fun, passionate style to the bench, along with his trademark game day tie! Outside of Volleyball Steven works as the Associate of Student Ministries at Cornerstone church of Crystal and he resides in Minnetonka with his Wife Lindsay, son Michael, and cat “Kitty Kitty.”
